Fast food, one of the most popular food among today’s generation, leads to various health-related issues. Despite constant awareness by health experts, people still cannot stop themselves from consuming junk food. There are various reasons behind adopting junk food over healthy food, which I will discuss further in the essay, along with the strategies to solve this problem.
To commence with, fast food takes less cooking time as compared to other healthy options. Consequently, more and more people consume this food due to their busy schedules. Moreover, junk food is widely available at low prices. For example, two Mac chicken burgers from MacDonald’s cost only five dollars, but one cannot buy a good portion of salad in the same amount of money. Hence, the good value of fast food and on the go lifestyle of people force them to adopt this bad food habit.
However, there are few strategies, that can encourage people to adopt healthy eating habits. First and foremost, people should be informed about the long -term effects of fast food. For example, how junk food leads to problems related to the cardiovascular system, obesity and even cancer. This can be done with the help of awareness campaigns. In addition to this, the cost of healthy food should be in the same price range as junk food, which will eventually make people consider the healthy option.
To conclude, I believe that when more and more people start to know the ill effects of junk food, along with affordable healthy options, the issue of consuming junk food will automatically be solved.
