IELTS Writing Task 2(Sample Answer)

Many people say that cooking and eating at home is better for the individual and the family than eating out in restaurants or canteens. Do you agree or disagree?

It is suggested that instead of eating out, the family and the individual must cook at the home. In my view, home-cooked meals are not only healthy but it is also cheap.

Home-cooked dishes are good for the health compare to canteen’s or restaurant’s food because at home a person takes care of hygiene standards and keep everything clean. Apart from that, the freshness of the meat and produce is easy to maintain at home which is not possible at restaurants due to the bulk-buying of groceries. For example, most commercial kitchens cook for large quantities and they serve leftovers the next day without any hesitation which is not healthy at all. Hence, home cooking makes sure meal quality and freshness, provides healthy eating.

Despite having healthy meals, it is also cheaper to cook at home. This is due to the expensive eat-outs. At restaurants, customers are charged for many other things than food, such as tax, rent, salaries of the workers, and profit. All these additional costs make a meal expensive. For instance, a burger at KFC will cost around $7, while at the home it barely costs $2 including all expenses. Thus, if the family eats outside every day, it will impact their budget largely. Therefore, home cooking is more economical for the individual and the family.
To conclude, I believe that home-cooked meals are advantageous for the person and the family because it is healthier and cheaper than meals served at eateries.
