Some people say it is important to keep your home and your workplace tidy, with everything organised and in the correct place. What is your opinion about this?
Many believe that a well organised home and working environment are essential. In my opinion, this is imperative as neat environment improves individual productivity and gives a favorable ambience to all those visiting the space.
To start with, a tidy home and workplace bring peace of mind to all those in the space. The famous lifestyle expert, Marie Condo, proposes an organising method that is oriented around ‘sparking joy’ in spaces by neatly ordering all sorts of objects – from cupboards to kitchens. She posits that objects that are well organised allow people in the space to quickly find things they need. Hence, it gives them more mental space and as a result, allows them to save time and do more in life.
Additionally, a well-ordered workspace also gestures a positive environment to all those visiting it. As such a place makes entrants feel comfortable as compared to a cluttered, untidy area. For this reason, several offices make sure to keep their lobbies clean, minimalist and well maintained allowing visitors to receive a favourable first impression of the company. A recent study by Howard University found that one of the many factors which led to an organisations success was the way their office was cleaned and organised regularly.
In conclusion, keeping one’s residence and workplace in order goes a long way in making sure that one’s life is oriented towards productivity. It also creates an environment for guests to feel like spending time in it. Therefore, I am a staunch supporter of living a neat and tidy life.
